Some intricate details too can intrigue , which may be apt for this blog. Have you ever wondered what the numbers below the plastic bottle convey?
The triangular arrows denote that it is recyclable, and we aren't gonna involve in that stuff, but the digits in it. It may differ from 1 to 7 which depends upon the type of plastic.
These 7 digits are called as Resin identification number. These convey the type of plastic used to make the bottle.
Plastic #1 – PETE or PET (Polyethylene Terephthalate)
Plastic #2 – HDPE (High Density Polyethylene)
Plastic #3 – V or PVC (Vinyl)
Plastic #4 – LDPE (Low Density Polyethylene)
Plastic #5 – PP (Polypropylene)
Plastic #6 – PS (Polystyrene)
Plastic #7 – Other, Miscellaneous
Though these may convey you the swishing triangular arrows with digits in it.Our humble request would be "Please avoid plastics and try to abide the laws of nature".
Though avoiding would be better, some situations may be inevitable. In that case
- Avoid recycling symbols 3, 6, and 7. While Number 1 is considered safe, it is also best to avoid this plastic.
- Look for symbols 2, 4, and 5, as these plastics are considered to be safest. These are the plastics to look for in terms of human and animal consumption.
As said it would be inevitable, try best to avoid plastic and use glass or high quality water filtration system.
