Mentalism... A catchy word isn't it ? Everyone of us thrived to know whenever a trick is done, though many claim it to be logic rather than magic.
It is the theory that physical and psychological phenomena are inexplicable in absence of a creative and interpretative mind.

The men who do this kind of defiance of all possible laws are referred to as mentalist. Audacious austere flow of hypnosis, clairvoyance, divination, mind control, telepathy, precognition, physcokinesis abilities are displayed which plays tricks with prefrontal cortex. The manipulation of the subject by just physcological suggestions or the bestowed possession of imbibing their thoughts to the subject by creating a unpredictable dilemma and unrevealing it without a controversy and making the subject to jump in conclusions such as illusions are usually displayed in an elegant fashion.
Their initial acts would involve presenting blind incomplete surprise claim to the unsuspecting audiences which would turns out to be a dramatic act.
Now you're looking for the secret. But you won't find it because of course, you're not really looking. The closer you look the lesser you see.
It's really playing games with your mind right? Brain is used as the loophole which acts as the lair for the mentalists. There are some people called as materialists who confront mentalists. Materialists believe that mind is a part of the body and reality cannot be distorted by changing the perceptions of people and do not believe in supernatural things, while mentalists believe mind is an entity which functions on one's perceptions and the things like smell, vision, touch, sound and taste is not constant for one's self and the supernatural things are the basis and origin of everything .
Every great magic trick consists of three parts or acts. The first part is called "The Pledge". The magician shows you something ordinary: a deck of cards, a bird or a man. He shows you this object. Perhaps he asks you to inspect it to see if it is indeed real, unaltered, normal. But of course... it probably isn't. The second act is called "The Turn". The magician takes the ordinary something and makes it do something extraordinary. Now you're looking for the secret... but you won't find it, because of course you're not really looking. You don't really want to know. You want to be fooled. But you wouldn't clap yet. Because making something disappear isn't enough; you have to bring it back. That's why every magic trick has a third act, the hardest part, the part we call "The Prestige"

ReplyDeleteI am Very impressed with how this is written. I have just stumbled upon this article you have written about mentalism and mentalist. If you wouldn't mind i would love to know if you have any recommendations on any where i can find valuable content on learning more about mentalism as far as books or websites go. I have for years had an interest in mentalism and recently have really started to focus heavily in the art of becoming a mentalist. I have read over a few websites that recommend books like this one http://www.mentalismminds.com/9-best-mentalism-books-available/ but i am wanting to know if you have any other recommendations as the sites that i am reading from like the one mentioned above don't comment back and the other sites just don't seem like they are very well put together. If you could point in the right direction that would be great. Thanks,
